In October, I had the honor to help organize one of the nation's first executive education courses on online marketing. Along with Professors Paul Farris and Phil Pfeiffer of UVA's Darden School of Business, we brought in some of the most interesting folks in the industry. That three day course went great. Unlike a trade show, where speakers give their talks and then fly off, this was an integrated course, with the solid insights and curriculum from Paul and Phil pulling it all together. Participant reviews were highly positive across the board, from large firms like Roche and CapOne, to smaller single location retailers. And the diversity of perspectives was also a plus. Google, Yahoo, P&G, big pharma, marketing folks, startups, traditional retailers -- our discussions were enriched by the breadth of experience in the room. In short, it went well. So, in April, we're doing it again. Online Marketing Update @ Darden returns April 28, 29, and 30th, 2008, again at Darden, in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. Amazing speakers, solid content. A refresher on web basics, as well as reports on the web marketing trends defining the cutting edge. Attendees and presenters stay on campus ("on grounds" in UVA-speak) in spiffy Darden exec ed housing, and share meals in the Darden exec ed dining room. (There's even a pub alongside the gatehouse.) In short, there are great opportunities to network and explore ideas outside of the classroom. We're just starting to market the course. Plenty of spaces available, but the last session back in October filled up relatively quickly, so it is worth checking this out if you are interested. It'd be great to see you in Charlottesville in April!
