Viacom slaps Google with $1 billion lawsuit. From Reuters:
The suit accuses Web search leader Google and YouTube of "massive intentional copyright infringement" of Viacom's entertainment assets and seeks an injunction against further violations.
$1B works out to roughly $6k per alleged infringed video snippet. At an estimated 4mins per typical video, that's $400 per infringing second. Real, or just part of a business negotiation that happens to be going on in the courts?
