Job Description:

The Role

We are looking for exceptional candidates to join our growing Data Engineering team focused on delivering high quality solutions to clients, both internal and external.

The successful candidate will understand modern data platform architecture and have experience in troubleshooting complex cloud solutions. You will be a competent and enthusiastic team player, developing simple and sensible solutions that are scalable, utilizing appropriate technologies and engineering best practices.

Under the direction of a Senior Data Engineer, the role holder will:

  • Collaborate in the delivery and support of first-rate solutions for our clients.
  • Provide data engineering support to our Data Scientists and Analytical Consultants working on complex client projects.
  • Provide technical expertise to clients to help them understand the power of big data analytics for their organization.

Life as a Data Engineer in Analytics at Merkle

In this role you will have the opportunity to work with clients from a wide range of sectors, understand their specific requirements, while liaising with data architects, data scientists and analytical consultants in order to design, develop and deliver the optimal technical solution.

You will typically work with a few clients at different stages of maturity, bringing variety to your work and the opportunity to develop new skills, improve your knowledge and gain experience.

As part of the Data Engineering team, you will be expected to take an active role in sharing knowledge and experiences with your team-mates through informal showcases and demonstrations.

You’ll already be comfortable and confident with Microsoft Azure and must have a good working knowledge of services and applications like:

  • Azure and specifically Azure used with Data & AI
  • Azure DevOps
  • Microsoft SQL Server / Azure SQL
  • Azure Storage
  • Data Lake engines & Lake House architectures.
  • CI/CD to support Data Ops processes and behaviors.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organized and conscientious operator who can be trusted to consistently deliver high quality work with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable interacting with clients and colleagues via email, Teams, and where appropriate, in person.
  • Strong project and time management; able to manage own time and priorities in order to deliver value to multiple projects simultaneously.

Knowledge and experience with Databricks, Spark and Azure Data Factory would be an advantage as would any formal Cloud Data Engineering accreditations.

What we are looking for in you

You will have a good understanding of distributed computing, data and application architectures, networking, security, and infrastructure management. You produce great code to drive production-grade data pipelines with durability and elasticity as standard.

Awareness of how Data Engineering enables Big Data with a functional knowledge of ELT/ETL pipelines, Modelling and Lakehouse architectures and Insight Experience tools like Power BI would be a plus.

Above all you will be a curious, driven individual with a passion for data, ready to learn and develop your skills in an exciting, empowered and challenging role.
