VP - Executive Group Director, Merkle B2B

Merkle B2B is a newly launched, B2B focused CXM business that is focused on the needs of the B2B market. Since our launch in September 2020, we have recorded 25%+ growth, reflecting the growing client demand in this dynamic market category.

Merkle B2B is the collection of Merkle’s B2B focused capabilities, Merkle | DWA, Digital Pi, gyro and B2B International. By combining the strengths of these five powerhouse companies, and aligning Dentsu’s world-class B2B leadership team, we are presenting a compelling new force in the B2B agency landscape.

Over the coming three- five years, entire B2B digital ecosystems will be reimagined in response to changing audience expectations - influenced by new customer experiences (CX), growing familiarity with the endless possibilities of technology and increased sophistication around the management of first party, second party and third party data – all of which is being accelerated by the ongoing impact of the pandemic.

At Merkle B2B, we aspire to completely transform modern B2B customer experiences — building the most valuable, personal relationships between B2B brands and their most important customers, and, in turn, between those customers and B2B brands.

Job Description:

Role:

This role is the critical #2 position to the CEO to engage, direct, influence and successfully execute B2B dedicated programs from across the broader Merkle organization with the leading B2B businesses in the world. A key influencer, facilitator, client engagement leader and management team player.

 

Key Focus Areas:

1.       B2B Solution Development – work closely with B2B experts in the service lines to ensure we are working on creating leading edge B2B solutions – and building a strong bench of B2B expertise within each of our service lines (SL's).

2.       B2B Growth Strategy

Existing Accounts / New Logo Engagement Role: This role is critical in senior client engagement and generally plays one of three roles on accounts:

1) B2B Consultant (external)

2) Exec sponsor (internal/external)

3) Account/Growth Consultant (internal)

Role is engaged in New Business pursuits – and covers a wide range of active engagements – including as a member of a pitch team, as a solution consultant,

3.       Building and leading B2B Marketing Services Practice

Lead the respective Solution leads from each of the Service lines connected and ensure solutions continue to move forward

  • Bi-Weekly integrated sessions are taking place and building momentum
  • Key team members include the leads over: Commerce, CX/DX, Technology, Analytics, Integrated Strategy, and Loyalty. 
  • Industry relationships / Engagement and Partnerships
    • Adobe
    • SFDC
    • PathFactory
    • DemandBase

4.       B2B Thought Leadership

Demand Generation / MarketingHelp create more demand and drive more opportunities help the organization move beyond cross sell to drive growth – leaning in on Demand Generation programs for MB2B

  • More focus on thought out Demand Generation Programs, Sales training, Sales Plays and clearer view on the end to end process
  • Aligning the solution leads to create thought leadership for this and ensuring there is line of sight to sales plays/offerings

Need to keep the teams on track to create thought leadership – constant battle to keep it top of mind and help the team find time to get it done

5.       B2B Acquisition Strategy

Member of the M&A acquisition team and will help with development of acquisition strategy, opportunity identification, strategic evaluation and formation of recommendations. Will also play a role in integrating assets as and when they are acquired to help ensure seamless integration into the Merkle B2B team.

 Skills:

  • A Challenger – bring new ideas to the table that have been vetted and will drive excitement
  • Understand the client needs – empathetic engagement style
  • Understand the structure of a deal / project
  • Understand the concepts of good account management / leadership
  • Have experience in pitch Coordination / Execution
  • Ability to engage at C-Suite level
  • Great Communicator / connector
  • Ability to connect between Operation and Activation teams (Tech/Analytics and Creative/Media as example)
  • Adaptable – can drive a long term strategy but has the ability to pivot and turn on a dime
  • Has experience in large, complex enterprises – understands the political layout and how to navigate

Background:

1.       Played senior roles leading Global teams

2.       B2B Marketer – ideally, would have spent some time working on client side

3.       Ideally has worked closely to/in a business operations type function

4.       Agency / Management Consultant Leader – understands the consulting/agency world

5.       15+ Years Experience
