Roberta Cowell
Roberta was a British racing driver and second world war fighter pilot who underwent a secret initial operation to remove her testicles, in 1948. This allowed her to be certified by a gynaecologist as intersex, and for further surgery to be carried out on 15 May 1951 - the first of its kind in the UK.
